Information on PATH

All placements into family shelters are made through the Prevention Assistance and Temporary Housing office (PATH) of the New York City Department of Homeless Services.

The PATH OFFICE is an intake center for families with children in New York City who are in need of emergency shelter. PATH determines eligibility and provides those families with placement in temporary shelters. For information on PATH including how to apply and what to expect, click here.

For families with adult children over the age of 21 or for single men and women, please refer to the DHS website by clicking here or call 311.
